Almost Alumni Dinners Establishing New Tradition, Looking for Volunteer Hosts

Almost Alumni Dinners are a new tradition being brought to Cleveland State University by the Student Alumni Association (SAA) and the Alumni Association (CSUAA). Held four times during the school year, these etiquette dinners offer current students the opportunity to network with alumni while discussing a topic related to their life after graduation.
The goal of these dinners is to strengthen the CSU community by connecting current students with Viking alumni. As an alumnus, we are asking you to assist with this year’s dinners by acting as a host — making sure students feel comfortable participating in the topic conversation, guiding the conversation during dinner as needed, and ensuring that everyone enjoys some warm Viking hospitality. SAA and CSUAA members will take care of the rest, including event set-up and logistics.

Dinner will be provided courtesy of SAA and CSUAA at no cost to students and alumni hosts. The dinners will be held at Elements Bistro on campus and will begin at 5:30 p.m. The topics with dates are:

  • Thursday, October 4 – Personal Finances (student loans, credit cards, saving accounts, etc.)
  • Thursday, November 1 – Networking (elevator speech, LinkedIn, business cards, follow-up, etc.)
  • Thursday, February 7 – Life Management (managing time, stress, work, family, etc.)
  • Thursday, April 4 – Life After Undergrad (advanced degrees, landing your first job, etc.)

If you are interested in acting as an alumni host for one of these dinners, please contact Kathleen Kulik at or call 216.687.2078.
